Sydvaranger urges the residents of Sør-Varanger to stay clear of the company´s operational areas

It is important for everyone to pay attention to and respect signs put up.

Sydvaranger urges the residents of Sør-Varanger to stay clear of the company's operational areas.

The Company has over time worked diligently to close off its operational areas to the degree possible, but unfortunately, we continue to frequently experience that people ignore gates, signs and fences and enters our operational areas unauthorized. These are locations that can be very unsafe! We are very concerned for the safety of those trespassing – especially children and youngsters who are now on a 2-month school holiday break – so we ask the residents of the municipality to look after each other, and to talk to their children and youngsters about the dangers of entering the operational areas both in Kirkenes and in Bjørnevatn. We understand that our operational areas are exciting and interesting for people of all ages, but for safety reasons unauthorized entry is prohibited!

Although we are not yet operational, Sydvaranger, contractors and others with legal access to the premises conduct operations which may pose a risk. There are in addition deep mines and tunnels where it is easy to get lost - and buildings and areas from previous operations which are not adequately secured yet. Even our own employees make sure that all precautions are taken when working in these areas. So, for safety reasons, once again we kindly ask everyone to follow our advice to not enter our operational areas unauthorized.
